Thanks for the note. I don't publicize my blog enough. Early on, I did use comments on other blogs to leave my url and otherwise plug my blog.

I stopped doing that mostly because I am not comfortable with commenting until I've thought about a post/subject for some time. Otherwise, the site will look too much like a ghost town with "0 comments" everywhere. I didn't follow this advice, since I love comments too much, but it helps show that a lot of traffic is important.

On my web site I noticed that it varies greatly with the type of article, but on average it takes something like 100 people reading a post for every one comment I get on it. Also, people tend to hate to be the first; I noticed that posts with a comment already had much better chance to get more comments than ones without. So sometimes I encourage one of my friends to put that first comment in so it will encourage others.

The main engine here is traffic. You have a good blog, but I suspect you don't publicize it enough. If you google around about ways to increase blog traffic, there is a lot of good advice out there (I'm still looking into the subject myself). I don't have a whole lot of free time, but I am always actively trying to publicize my blog in different ways, like putting my url in comments on other sites, emailing other blog writers about stories I did, if I thought the subject was interesting to them, etc.

I even experimented with paid advertisements for a little while. That had mixed results - I didn't get much traffic, but the ones I did get tended to be more likely to come back than average). Most people claim that paid ads are best for brand new blogs, but after awhile their usefulness runs out.

Keep writing and good luck!
